3 Construction overview

Tohoku Expressway Iwafune JCT ~ Tochigi between the IC (Out-bound the line), in traffic congestion period such as Bon and tourist season, In-bound traffic intensive congestion rate reduction due to slope causes has occurred. As part of this traffic congestion countermeasure, we are constructing a new uphill lane. Construction started in January 2014 and is expected to take approximately two years by the end of FY27.

(1) Installation of climbing lane

Tohoku Expressway (Out-bound line) 62.6KP-67.6KP (approx. 5.0km) Iwafune JCT A new uphill lane will be established at the junction lane, but if there is no space to widen on the Out-bound line side, the In-bound line will be outside first. After widening, move the Out-bound line to set up the lane.

(2) Construction content

This work is a work to replace the existing In-bound line bridge with a new one in connection with the existing bridge joint (expansion device) when expanding the bridge. In this construction, it is necessary to control the lanes continuously in the day and night in order to replace all existing bridge joints (expansion devices) and then replace them.
