NEXCO EAST Kanto Regional Head Office (Taito-ku, Tokyo) conducted a second winter tire installation rate survey at a rest facility in the area in late January.
As a result, the winter tire installation rate was approximately 65% on average for all vehicle models (up 15% from the previous time), and the installation rate was improved for both large vehicles (approximately 73.9%) and small vehicles (approximately 61.7%).
If you are going to a ski resort or a snowfall area, please be sure to wear winter tires and carry a tire chain.
In addition, at rest facilities near the Tokyo metropolitan area, the results were that the installation rate was particularly low (63.1% for large vehicles and 40.2% for small vehicles). Even in the Tokyo metropolitan area, roads may freeze and snow may fall, so please refrain from going out unnecessarily or during winter when roads are frozen or snow, or wear winter tires just in case.

Winter Expressway are slippery due to snowfall and freezing. Please do not use the same speed and handling as in other seasons as it is extremely dangerous.
Also, in the Tokyo metropolitan area on January 14, last year, a sudden snowfall made it impossible for a normal tire car to run and was closed for a long time. In case of emergency, please wear winter tires.
On the Expressway winter, keep the distance between cars enough and keep the speed down, Please do not perform operations such as "sudden steering wheel", "rapid acceleration", "sudden braking" with "sudden", and drive slowly and safely.
In winter, it may be snowing at the destination or the passing point even if the departure place is sunny, so please check the weather information in advance and prepare for safety.
