East Japan · Central Japan · Western Japan Expressway Co., Ltd. announced on April 25, 2017 as "Lane segment fence (tentative name)" as measures to prevent frontal collision accident at the long bridge and tunnel section of the interim two-lane section of the expressway We began public offering for technology development.

Most of the provisional two-lane sections of Japan's Expressway have a structure in which the upper and lower lanes are separated by rubber poles, and frontal collision accidents, etc. occur due to the departure of the vehicle into the oncoming lane, which further increases safety. Measures are required.

As a measure to prevent accidents when the provisional two-lane section jumps out to the opposite lane, we are working on trial installation of wire rope in the earthwork and medium-small bridge (less than 50 m long) sections with a Standard width of 10.5 m, but the Standard width is 9.5 m. Since there is a problem with the installation and fixing method when applying wire rope to the long bridge (50 m or more in bridge length) and the tunnel section, which is m, the technical development of the lane division fence will be carried out by public invitation.

In addition, the technology selected from the applied technologies should be appropriately collaborated with the "Technical Review Committee on Countermeasures for Frontal Collision Accidents on Expressway," etc. to verify performance through experiments, etc. We will evaluate the issues, and if they are effective, we will try them on the provisional two-lane section of the Expressway.
