About new Expressway tolls in the Tokyo metropolitan area

East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd., Central Japan Expressway Co., Ltd., Capital Expressway Co., Ltd. have changed the tolls of Expressway based on Article 3 of the Road Maintenance Special Measures Law. We are pleased to inform you that we received a business license from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism on March 1, 2016.

Regarding the toll system in the Tokyo metropolitan area (the Ken-O Road and its inside) where the toll level and vehicle type classification etc. have been different due to the difference in the history of maintenance, etc., based on the progress of the three-loop maintenance, the distance system is basically used. The usage-focused pricing system will shift from midnight on April 1, 2016 (Friday).

Overview of new charges

  1. Organized and unified into a charge system based on the distance system
    "Fare level": Standardized to the level of the section of the current highway national highway near large cities
    "Vehicle classification": Unified into 5 vehicle classifications

    (Radical change mitigation measures)
    • For the Shuto Expressway, etc., set a maximum charge, etc. in consideration of the impact on logistics and the increased burden on non-ETC vehicles
    • For routes with low current fare levels, such as Daisan Keihin and Yokohama-Shindo Road, set standard fare levels for ordinary highways.
      • For a new price for the outside ring road, Ken-O Road scheduled to be introduced in accordance with the Summary of Narutoki (at the time of border Furukawa-center of Tsukuba opened).
  2. Realization of seamless charges based on origin and destination
    For congestion or the like of the inner city, Ken-O Road so that the use of and outside the ring road is not a disadvantage in fee surface, the ETC car, regardless of the route, the shortest distance (the time being between the raised end point consolidation and unification of the fee structure In consideration of the sudden change mitigation measures in, the price is decided based on the lowest price).
