NEXCO EAST (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) has summarized traffic congestion prediction and countermeasures due to traffic concentration during the Obon period [August 7 (Thursday) to August 17 (Sunday): 11 days].
1 Request for distributed use
- This traffic congestion forecast is based on the traffic conditions of the past Bon Festival, New Year holidays, and Golden Week.
- The number of traffic jams due to traffic congestion that occurs during the Obon period (*) At peak times of 10 km or more, it is estimated to be 122 times, 13 times more than 109 times the previous year.
- The tendency of traffic congestion during the Obon period is Out-bound: Wednesday 13th August, In-bound: Saturday 16th August We anticipate that there will be a lot of traffic congestion. [Traffic occurrence tendency is as shown below]
- Prediction of the longest traffic jam in NEXCO EAST [Congestion prediction of maximum congestion length of 20 km or more is Attachment 1 [PDF: 229KB]]
・ Out-bound: About 35 km on August 13 (Wednesday) near the Higashimatsuyama interchange on the Kan-Etsu Expressway (Higashimatsuyama City, Saitama Prefecture)
・ In-bound: On Saturday, August 16th, around the Kan-Etsu Expressway Kosaka Service Area (Higashimatsuyama City, Saitama Prefecture) approximately 35km - When planning your departure, we recommend that you avoid congestion by shifting the peak day or time of expected congestion.
