Tsukubamirai City, Ibaraki Prefecture and NEXCO EAST Kanto Regional Head Office (Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture) are working together to advance this project. E6 We are pleased to announce that the name of the smart interchange (hereinafter referred to as Smart IC) connecting to Joban Expressway (hereinafter referred to as Joban Expressway) has been decided.

Tsukubamirai Smart Interchange
Concept of name
In order to ensure that users of the smart interchange can clearly understand that it is an ETC-only smart interchange and that it is an entrance/exit that connects to Tsukubamirai City, we have used the name of the municipality, "Tsukubamirai," and named it "Tsukubamirai Smart Interchange."
Background to the name decision
The name was decided upon through deliberations by the "Tsukubamirai Smart Interchange District Council (tentative name)," which is made up of Tsukubamirai City and other organizations, and was based on a proposed name that was decided based on the opinions of the Road Sign Optimization Committee, which is made up of road administrators in Ibaraki Prefecture, and was then decided upon through the prescribed procedures of the Japan Expressway Holding and Debt Repayment Corporation.
