NEXCO EAST, NEXCO CENTRAL, and NEXCO WEST (hereinafter referred to as the "Three NEXCO Companies") reported on their future policy for preventing wrong-way driving at the "Expert Committee on Countermeasures against Expressway (hereinafter referred to as the "Expert Committee") held on July 24, 2024. In light of this, they will begin accepting submissions of new wrong-way driving countermeasure technologies from December 20, 2024.
高速道路での逆走は、概ね2日に1回の頻度で多数発生しています。さらに、逆走車両が起こす事故は、順走車両との正面衝突など、正しく走行している方も巻き込まれ悲惨な事故に至る場合があります。
2019年に国土交通省が策定した「高速道路における安全・安心基本計画」における「2029年までに逆走による重大事故ゼロ」の目標を目指すにあたり、NEXCO3社においても2019年に「高速道路における安全・安心実施計画」を策定し、国土交通省が設置した有識者委員会と適宜連携しながら、各種逆走対策を推進しております。
今回公募を行うのは、「テーマⅣ」として既存の道路管理設備（CCTVカメラ）を活用して逆走車両を検知し、検知された情報に基づき逆走車両及び順走車両へ注意喚起警告する技術と、「テーマⅤ」として逆走車両が自身の逆走を認識（検知）し、その情報を自車（逆走車両）に注意喚起警告する技術の2点です。
現場検証の対象に選定された技術は、2025年5月以降検証を行い、2026年度末ごろからの順次展開を目指します。
