Tohoku Regional Head Office
NEXCO EAST Tohoku Regional Head Office (Miyagino-ku, Sendai-shi, Miyagi) has summarized the usage status of Expressway in the Tohoku region managed by the Company during the year-end and New Year period [2024 for 10 days from December 27 (Fri.), 2012 to January 5 (Sun.), 2025].
Traffic volume
- The average daily traffic volume in the Tohoku region was 14,400 vehicles per day, approximately 101% compared to the same period in fiscal year 2023.
- Traffic volumes peaked on the Out-bound lanes on Saturday, December 28th and Monday, December 30th, and on the In-bound lanes on Friday, January 3rd.
Congestion
- There were zero traffic jams (including traffic jams caused by accidents) of more than 5 km in length.
(During the same period in fiscal year 2023, there were zero traffic jams of 5km or more (including traffic jams caused by accidents).)
Road closure status
- In the Tohoku Regional Head Office area, there were zero road closures due to snow, and 15 road closures due to traffic accidents.
As heavy snowfall is forecast in the Tohoku region in the future, please refrain from making non-essential trips, and if you must use Expressway, please drive safely by using winter tires and carrying tire chains.
