East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd. Kanto Regional Head Office
On February 17, the Saitama Prefectural Police announced that they had arrested an illegal passer-by who illegally escaped the toll charge that was originally to be paid, on charges of fraud and fraud of using a computer.
In this case, the suspect abused the ETC system and was illegally exempted from paying the toll charge that he or she originally should have paid, assuming that the suspect flowed in from a toll gate different from the actual entrance toll gate (near the toll gate).
NEXCO EAST Kanto Regional Head Office (Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture), we have taken a strong stance of not allowing unauthorized traffic so as not to damage customers' trust in the toll road business. We believe that the arrest of a person who commits malicious tolls will greatly contribute to ensuring fairness in toll charges and deterring unauthorized tolls.
We will continue to take a resolute attitude toward illegal traffic and will actively cooperate with police investigations to tackle illegal traffic.
In February of this month, as a month to strengthen measures against illegal traffic, we are working even more closely with police and other related organizations to crack down on illegal traffic such as breakthroughs and to publicize how to properly use ETC. Thank you for your cooperation.
