NEXCO EAST Hokkaido Regional Head Office (Atsubetsu-ku, Sapporo) will jointly with the Hokkaido Police (Hokkaido Police) during the spring national traffic safety campaign period from Thursday, May 11th to Saturday, May 20th. (1) Implementation of the “Spring National Traffic Safety Campaign Dispatch Ceremony” (10th), (2) Implementation of traffic safety enlightenment quiz on official Twitter, (3) Traffic safety campaigns and street awareness at the entrances of service areas (SA), parking areas (PA) and interchanges (IC) throughout Hokkaido We will carry out the following three initiatives to call for traffic safety to customers using Expressway.

2. NEXCO EAST Hokkaido Regional Head Office Spring Traffic Safety Key Points
- Take an early break before you feel tired!
According to data for the past three years, the spring season (April to June) has the lowest number of traffic accidents throughout the year (Reference ①). ) accounted for about 60% of the total (Reference ②).
When driving on Expressway, take frequent breaks at SAs and PAs before you feel tired, drive at a safe speed, and concentrate! - Wear seat belts and child seats in all seats, including the back seats!
The fatality rate for those not wearing seatbelts in traffic accidents on Expressway is about 14 times that for those wearing seatbelts! (2020 National Police Agency survey)
However, the seat belt wearing rate on Expressway is 99.6% for the driver's seat and 78.0% for the rear seat, which is still low compared to the driver's seat. (2020 National Police Agency/JAF survey)
