NEXCO EAST Hokkaido Regional Head Office Office (Atsubetsu-ku, Sapporo City) will check the traffic situation in Hokkaido during the year-end and New Year period [Wednesday, December 28, 2012-Wednesday, January 4, 5th year of Reiwa: 8 days] I will let you know as soon as it has been compiled.

  • The average daily traffic volume was 84% compared to the same period in 2019 (before the corona disaster).
    (Increase to 113% compared to 2021 due to many road closures due to snow in 2021)
  • The number of traffic jams of 1 km or more was 9 times, which was +2 times compared to the same period in 2019.

  • The maximum length of traffic congestion occurred at around 18:10 on Tuesday, January 3, at E38 Doto Expressway Shimukappu Interchange (IC) → Mukawahobetsu IC (In-bound, towards Sapporo), due to the concentration of traffic after the suspension of traffic was lifted. It was 6.1km.
