<Background to the Agreement and Future Outlook>

  • When railway facilities are damaged by earthquakes or other events, if Expressway are closed, access to the affected areas can take time. This agreement will allow emergency vehicles to travel through closed sections of Expressway after coordination between the two companies, which is expected to shorten the time it takes to restore railway facilities.
  • In the event of a disaster, it is important to quickly grasp the extent of damage to Expressway at an early stage. We believe that by concluding this agreement, emergency vehicles used for railway restoration will also be able to assist in assessing the extent of damage.
  • This strengthened collaboration will enable quicker and closer communication, which will lead to improved disaster response capabilities for both companies.
