East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd.

We would like to announce the outline of NEXCO EAST (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo)'s interim financial results 2024 and its full-year profit and loss forecast.
The interim financial statements cover the six-month period from April 1 2024 to September 30 2024, and the full-year profit and loss forecast covers the one-year period from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025.

[Key points of 2024 interim financial results (consolidated)]

  1. In Expressway business, operating revenue increased 19.2 billion yen year on year to 490.9 billion yen due to increases in toll income and road asset completion volume compared to the previous fiscal year. Operating expenses increased 16.6 billion yen year on year to 459.8 billion yen due to increases in road asset rental fees to the Japan Expressway Holding and Debt Repayment Agency, road asset completion costs, and management expenses.
As a result, Expressway business recorded operating profit of 31.0 billion yen (previous period: operating profit of 28.4 billion yen).
In addition, Expressway toll revenues tend to be higher in the first half of the year than in the second half, and maintenance costs tend to be higher in the second half of the year than in the first half due to the impact of winter snow and ice prevention work, so we expect to break even for the full fiscal year.
  2. In the service area (SA) and parking area (PA) business, store sales increased compared to the previous fiscal year, resulting in operating revenue increasing by 700 million yen year on year to 18.8 billion yen, and operating expenses increasing by 600 million yen year on year to 16.1 billion yen.
As a result, the SA/PA business is expected to record an operating profit of 2.6 billion yen (2.5 billion yen in the previous fiscal year), and the related businesses, including contract work and other businesses, are expected to record an operating profit of 2.7 billion yen (3.0 billion yen in the previous fiscal year), resulting in an operating profit of 3.4 billion yen for the full fiscal year.
  3. The total business, including Expressway business and related businesses, is expected to achieve an operating profit of 33.8 billion yen (previous period: operating profit of 31.4 billion yen), and an operating profit of 3.5 billion yen for the full fiscal year.
