NEXCO EAST (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) and AirX Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) are planning a 9-day "helicopter sightseeing plan" that will take off and land at the Tohoku Expressway Chojahara Service Area (SA) (In-bound line). Sales will start from the 14th of the month.
This flight was the first in Japan (according to our research) to be a collaboration between AirX Co., Ltd., which builds the infrastructure that will be the source of next-generation air mobility such as helicopters, private jets, and flying cars, and NEXCO EAST, which manages Expressway. "Sales of helicopter sightseeing plans that use Expressway service areas as takeoff and landing sites."
Flight overview
A total of four types of courses, including the "Recovery Course", will be sold with Tohoku Expressway Chojahara SA as the take-off and landing site.
The implementation period is October 7th (Saturday), October 8th (Sunday), October 9th (holiday/Monday), October 14th (Saturday), October 15th (Sunday), 2020. It is scheduled for 5 days. (However, the flight may be canceled due to weather.)
The aircraft uses a Robinson R44, which is highly quiet and environmentally friendly.
Up to 3 passengers can be on board at the same time on one flight, with a total weight of up to 220 kg.

About DraPla Innovation Lab and this initiative
"DraPla Innovation Lab" is a part of NEXCO EAST 's open innovation initiative. Through co-creation with startups, etc., "Dorapura Innovation Lab" contributes to solving company or regional issues using new technologies and services, and improves customer safety, security, and The aim is to improve comfort and convenience, and by utilizing the results not only Expressway but also in the real world, the results can be widely distributed.
In 2021, we began accepting applications as the first accelerator program in Japan run by an Expressway company, and are currently conducting demonstration experiments.
This project is a collaboration between two companies, AirX Co., Ltd. and NEXCO EAST which have been selected by the "DraPla Innovation Lab" and are engaged in the air mobility business with the aim of creating a "world where the sky can be used freely" and boast the most helicopter flight results in Japan. This is a demonstration experiment to verify the appeal of a new combination of Expressway and aerial sightseeing, with a view to linking it with flying cars.
In the future, by making short- and medium-distance air travel more accessible, we will not only create demand for tourism, but also contribute to regional revitalization by strengthening our ability to respond in the event of a disaster and improving access to mountainous and mountainous areas.
