Public call for technical development of next-generation pavements that contribute to longer life

NEXCO Research Institute / NEXCO EAST / NEXCO CENTRAL / NEXCO WEST is pleased to announce that we are open to the public for technical development aimed at extending the life of Expressway pavements.

1 Purpose of public offering

At present, Expressway are becoming apparent, and in light of the situation where it is necessary to fundamentally eliminate the cause of damage, a new method for rationally improving all layers of pavement and constructing long-life pavement. We will develop technology for pavement structure and construction method.
The technology selected from the submitted technologies will be verified for performance through various tests, and the effects and issues related to practicality will be evaluated. For those for which the effects are recognized, NEXCO EAST / NEXCO CENTRAL / NEXCO WEST We plan to actively adopt it on the managed Expressway

2 Required technology

• 1) Pavement repair technology with a pavement structure that is more durable than the current state.
  However, construction capacity must be equal to or higher than the current pavement technology.
• 2) Pavement repair technology that has better construction capacity than the current situation.
  However, the pavement structure must have durability equal to or higher than the current condition.

* The target pavement structures are the following two types on the Expressway main line (earthwork section).
[1] Technology for improving surface layer + base layer + upper layer roadbed
[2] Technology for improving surface layer + base layer + upper layer roadbed + lower layer roadbed
