East Japan/Central Japan/West Japan Expressway Co., Ltd. has been working as part of efforts by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to achieve the goal of zero reverseway accidents on Expressway November 20, 2016 to February 2017. Until the 10th of March, we made a public call for reverse run countermeasure technology from private companies.

We would like to inform you that we have selected the technology to perform on-the-road verification from the applied technologies. The verification on the actual road is planned to be carried out for about one year from April 2017 after the procedure with companies that have proposed the selected technology, etc., and we aim to put it into practical use from FY2018.

Currently, Expressway companies are proceeding with physical and visual countermeasures at junctions such as interchanges (ICs) and junctions (JCTs) as countermeasures against reverse running, but verification aiming at practical application of selected technology in the future We will further promote measures against reverse running, such as by conducting evaluations.
