NEXCO EAST (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) has summarized traffic congestion prediction and countermeasures due to traffic concentration during the year-end and New Year period [Wednesday, December 26, 2012 to Sunday, January 6, 2012: 12 days].

1 Request for distributed use

  • This traffic congestion forecast is based on the past year-end and New Year holidays when the special holiday discount (up to 1,000 yen in rural areas) was not applied, the Golden Week period, and the traffic conditions such as Obon.
  • The number of traffic jams during the year-end and New Year period (10 km or more at peak) is expected to be 36 times, which is 3 times more than 33 times the previous year.
    ・5 times Out-bound line: ▲4 times (9 times in the previous year), 31 times In-bound line: +7 times (24 times in the previous year) * Previous year (H23.12.26 ~ 1.6: 12 days)
  • Congestion trends during the year-end and New Year period, In-bound on January 2 in the line (water), 3 days (Thursday) We anticipate that there will be a lot of traffic congestion. [Traffic occurrence tendency is as shown below]

    ・ Out-bound: December 30 (Sun), 15 km near the Kan-Etsu Expressway Kosaka Service Area (Higashimatsuyama City, Saitama Prefecture)
    ・ In-bound: January 2 (Wednesday) Approximately 45km near the Kan-Etsu Expressway Kosaka Service Area (Higashimatsuyama City, Saitama Prefecture)
  • Please avoid using traffic congestion by shifting the departure time of customers before and after the time when peak traffic congestion is expected.

  • Please note that the Umihotaru Parking Area on the Tokyo Wan Aqua-Line Expressway may be closed due to congestion from the evening of December 31st to the early morning of January 1st.
    Large-scale commercial facilities near the Kisarazu Kaneda interchange are expected to increase traffic congestion during the year-end and New Year holidays.
