March 17, 2025
East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd.
Heavy snow is forecast for the entire Fukushima prefecture, Nagano prefecture, and high altitude areas of Tochigi prefecture from March 18th to 19th due to the influence of strong cold fronts, and road closures may occur depending on future snowfall conditions and forecasts. In particular, preventive and simultaneous road closures are planned for some sections of Tohoku Expressway and National Route 4.
1. Sections where preventive road closures are planned (see attached map)
2. To save your life, please refrain from going out!
On Expressway, a single disabled vehicle can cause thousands of vehicles to become stranded. Stranded vehicles pose a direct risk of adverse effects on human life and health, including carbon monoxide poisoning, hypothermia, hunger, and toilet problems. In addition, blocked lanes make snow removal impossible, hindering firefighting and emergency rescue efforts, potentially putting many people at risk.
Please check the latest weather forecasts and road traffic information and reconsider your plans to go out. We also ask transport companies and shippers to check future weather forecasts and review their operation plans in the event of heavy snowfall.
3. Please check the latest traffic information
Expressway may be subject to sudden road closures due to unexpected accidents, sudden changes in weather, etc.
The latest traffic information and upcoming preventive road closure schedules will be provided on our official website, and detailed information for each region will be provided on Official X (formerly Twitter) and Official LINE, so please be sure to check them out.
