Thank you for your continued understanding and cooperation in the Tokyo Gaikan Expressway project (outer ring project).
We apologize for the inconvenience and concern caused by the ground surface collapse and cavity accident near the construction site of this project (2-chome, Higashitsutsujigaoka, Chofu City) that occurred on October 18, 2020. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Due to this accident, we will suspend the excavation work for the shield tunnel construction of the outer ring business, continue the maintenance measures, and safely construct the shield tunnel on the Oizumi side and the ramp shield construction on the north side of the central JCT by the operator. We have been studying "measures to prevent recurrence" and "efforts to improve the safety and security of the region".
Since the contents of this study were deliberated and summarized by the "Tokyo Gaikan Tunnel Construction Review Committee (held on December 24, 3rd year of Reiwa)", the area around the Oizumi side shield tunnel and the central JCT north side ramp shield tunnel construction site. We held a briefing session for residents of Japan, and over 270 people visited us while we were busy.
We will continue to focus on monitoring the depressions and cavities and their surroundings, respond appropriately to inquiries from people living in the vicinity, and strive to eliminate anxiety. Thank you for your cooperation.
