[E4] Malfunction of fire detector in Sakanashi Tunnel on Tohoku Expressway

NEXCO EAST Tohoku Regional Head Office (Aoba-ku, Sendai City) implemented "traffic closure" at 15:08 on May 16, 2018 (Wednesday) at the Sakanashi Tunnel on the E4 Tohoku Expressway due to a malfunction of the fire detector. We apologize for any inconvenience caused to our customers.

1 Event

In this event, an automatic notification of a fire detector occurred at the Sakanashi Tunnel between Kosaka JCT and Ikarigaseki IC on the E4 Tohoku Expressway, and the road closure (upper and lower lines) between Kosaka JCT and Ikarigaseki IC was closed from 15:08. It was carried out for 32 minutes at 15:40.
This effect has caused inconvenience to many customers.

2 Future action

We are currently conducting a detailed investigation into the cause of the malfunction of the fire detector that caused the malfunction, and will take appropriate measures as soon as the cause is identified.
